Welcome to Camp Arrowhead for
girls. Enjoy the many traditions that have been active for 73 years!

Overhead

headwaters of the south fork of the Guadalupe river. It is located on
Highway 39 in Hunt, TX.

The
'Big House' was built in the 1800's. The lower story served as a
stagecoach stop for many years. It is said to have been part of the old
Chisholm Trail stage run. The house is built well above the 100-year flood
level, but when floods did occur, the stagecoaches would be floated across the
river, according to local folklore. The second story was added in 1916 by
a member of the Crider family.

This
is Garner's Gazebo, lovingly built in the memory of my mother Garner Gillis
Bartell. You will find many campers hanging around and shooting the breeze
under the canopy of the pecan trees over the gazebo.

Each
cabin can sleep 12-16 girls, bunk-style. They are grouped in cabins
according to their age, along with 2 counselors per cabin. We are in the
process of 'rocking' the cabins with native stone that we have here on the
property!

|
The way each girl's bunk is decorated is only limited to their
imagination!

This is the dining
hall, fondly referred to as the "Filling Station". We have just
finished putting in a new wooden floor and bare cedar poles. |

This is Gillis Hall, named
after Charles & Martha Gillis; the founders of Camp Arrowhead. This is
where we have our 'tribe shows'. It can seat up to 300 people. |
