July 26, 2003

We started out the day by celebrating Gabriela's Birthday and her giving the deer his traditional birthday 'kiss'.  The campers gave an excellent demonstration of their skill in archery.

After archery, we decided to have some water fun with the canoe races (Kickapoos won), relay swim races (Pawnees won) and synchronized swimming (performed by advanced swimmers).

After lunch, our riflery instructor, Mr. Bill, helped the campers demonstrate what they have learned about his class.  They begin and end each class by reciting the gun safety rules.  He even let the parents have a "shot" at it.

Our last demonstration was self-defense, taught by Sensei Morris Arredondo, who teaches them a form of the ancient art of Juijitsu.  In the short weeks that these girls spent in his class, enabled them to defend themselves against attacks that students might face in their lifetime, despite their size.

Mr. Bill, our riflery instructor, had the pleasure of presenting on of our counselors, Amber, the 'Distinguished Expert' award in riflery.  And last, but certainly not the least, the girls received their packet full of awards that they have earned during the term.  We were not able to get a picture of every girl, but we got as many as we could.  We love each and every one of them!
